Substitute Building Custodian

The position of the Substitute Custodian has been established to provide on-call assistance in maintaining the physical school structures and grounds in a condition of operating excellence to ensure full educational use at all times.

Essential functions include cleaning restrooms and locker/shower areas, emptying trash and garbage containers, following safety and health standards, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, dusting, notifying supervisors about repairs, cleaning snow, ice, and debris, assisting other custodians, and performing all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and skills include a high school degree or equivalent, three to six months related experience or training, flexibility to work a schedule, good organizational skills, and a valid driver's license.

Physical demands include frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, occasional standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
