Substitute CustodianPosition Summary: Keep buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition, and perform other custodial duties as required.Essential Functions:Service, clean, and supply restrooms and cafeterias, as assigned.Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.Gather and empty trash.Operate power equipment such as wet-vacs, scrubbers, buffers, or other equipment that is used in building maintenance.Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using appropriate supplies and techniques.Notify supervisors concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.Dust and clean furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.Steam clean or shampoo carpets.Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas using appropriate tools/equipment or by spreading snow melting chemicals.Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours, setting alarm systems, or checking to ensure that hazards are not created that may result in injury to others.Set up and arrange furniture, staging, or other equipment to prepare facilities for school events.Make adjustments to heating and cooling systems.Drive school vehicles as required to travel to or to perform cleaning work.Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.Report suspected bullying to building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and district policies.Adhere to all policies of the District.Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director or Assistant Maintenance Director-Custodial.Position Qualifications:Regular attendancePunctualityCommunication, OralCommunication, WrittenDecision MakingDetail OrientedFriendlyHonesty / IntegrityInitiativeLoyalReliabilityResponsibleSafety AwarenessSelf-MotivatedTime ManagementSkills & Abilities:No prior experience necessaryComputer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.Other Requirements:Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times while around students and other staff members.High school diploma or GED preferred.Possess valid driver's license as may be required for job duties.Physical Demands:Stand CWalk CSit OManually Manipulate CReach Outward FReach Above Shoulder FClimb OCrawl OSquat or Kneel OBend OGrasp CSpeak OLift/Carry 10 lbs or less F11-20 lbs F21-50 lbs O51-100 lbs OOver 100 lbs OPush/Pull 12 lbs or less F13-25 lbs F26-40 lbs F41-100 lbs OWork Environment:Generally in a school setting with both inside and outside work.Noise level is moderate in most situations.Some exposure to extreme heat or cold may be encountered depending on the job assignment and the season of the year.
