Substitute Custodian
Substitute custodians take on janitorial responsibilities when full-time custodians aren't on duty. These are generally part-time positions. The job objective is to ensure that their work setting is tidy, sanitary, presentable and secure for all of the people who frequent it. Purpose: The substitute custodian provides a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment, on an as-needed basis, to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. To accomplish these tasks the custodian must work closely with the supervisor, staff and administration. Responsible to: Director of Buildings and Grounds. Substitute custodian salary: $17.00 an hour (as needed and not to exceed 29 hours weekly).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read chemical labels.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Able to lift 50lbs.
Essential functions:
- Provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment to ensure full and productive use of district facilities.
- Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as required.
- Support the value of an education.
Physical requirements/environmental conditions:
- Requires prolonged standing.
- Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a repeated basis throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.
- Requires climbing and balancing.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
