Substation TechnicianA Substation Technician is responsible for the construction, maintenance and repair of substation equipment / systems with working knowledge of substation equipment, apparatus, and wiring. This position requires work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas and works with various pieces of construction equipment specific to the trade. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified Individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions considering business necessity.Essential Functions:Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair, testing, adjusting and troubleshooting work of substation equipment/systems which includes, but is not limited to, work involving the following:Concrete Foundations, ground grids, and steel erectionBuswork (High and Low Voltage)Airbreak / Hookstick SwitchesControl CableTerminations (High / Low Voltage)Control BuildingsConduit and duck banksCapacitor bank installations 23kv- 230 kvTransformers, regulators and circuit breakersCircuit Switchers, motor-operated and manual switchesResponsible for maintaining Company vehicles, test equipment and tools in good working conditionsFrequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.Other Requirements:Able to read and communicate effectively in English.Work is performed outside and includes exposure to extreme cold, heat inclement weather & noise.Willing to work in various locations across the state/country and for extended periods, when required.Must be able to follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies.CDL is not required but a plus; Valid Driver's license requiredWilling to submit and pass a pre-employment drug screenAbility to perform all assigned tasks in a safe and effective mannerAbility to understand and communicate information and work in a team environmentAble to stoop, kneel, crouch, dig, climb and reachAble to lift, carry and place heavy objectsMust have acceptable MVRWe participate in E-VerifyRequired Physical Demands:This role does require the physical ability to climb, bend stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and repetitive motions.Physical Demands C Lift/CarryStand C 10 lbs. or less CWalk C 11-20 lbs.
