Substation Engineering - Supervisor (REMOTE)
Base pay range: $160,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of engineers and designers in the planning and execution of substation projects (new builds, upgrades, expansions).
- Oversee the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates for high‑voltage substations (typically 69kV to 500kV).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes (e.g., IEEE, NESC), and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including one‑line diagrams, protection and control schematics, grounding, and layout drawings.
- Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, utilities, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and cost‑effective project delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for engineering tasks.
- Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Support procurement activities by providing technical input on equipment specifications and vendor selection.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in substation design and automation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 12 years of experience in substation engineering, including leadership roles.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, or similar.
- Strong understanding of protection and control systems, SCADA integration, and substation automation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
