Senior Substation Designer – High Voltage | AutoCAD
Location: Atlanta, GA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days in office
Relocation: Available
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with some flexibility
Travel: Limited travel for project-related site visits
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of hands-on substation design experience preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of detailed CAD/design experience on high-voltage electrical substation projects required.
- Experience in the electric utility industry .
- Strong AutoCAD experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical strongly preferred.
- Experience with Substation Design Suite (SDS) is a major plus.
- Experience with physical substation design and/or Protection & Control (P&C) design.
- Knowledge of major substation components, materials, and construction methods.
- Ability to develop and interpret:
- Physical layouts
- Schematics
- Construction drawings
- Strong understanding of CAD standards and drawing quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative engineering/design environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting & Design or a related field.
- Four-year degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
- AutoCAD Map 3D
- Autodesk Inventor
- Substation Design Suite (SDS)
- Utility design standards
- Experience supporting construction drawing packages
- Experience with document management systems
