At Percy, we're building new ways to connect talented professionals with meaningful career opportunities at leading companies in the multifamily industry. We're currently seeking an Affordable Housing Compliance Expert to join a product and affordable compliance team based in New York, NY, with remote work considered for the right profile.
This is a rare chance to help build an affordable housing compliance product from the ground up, translating real-world regulations into product requirements that engineers can implement.
You’ll bring deep, multi-program expertise, review system-generated certifications for accuracy, and work directly with customers to ensure the platform reflects how layered affordable portfolios operate in practice.
Responsibilities
- Translate affordable housing regulations and program requirements into clear product guidance for engineering and product teams
- Review system-generated tenant income certifications and eligibility determinations, identify errors, and provide feedback to improve logic and workflows
- Partner with customers to gather programmatic needs, clarify edge cases, and incorporate feedback into the product roadmap
- Support audit and reporting readiness concepts within the product scope (certifications/recertifications first, expanding over time)
- Help shape and eventually guide a growing human-in-the-loop review function as the product scales
Qualifications
- 4+ years of affordable housing compliance experience (flexible for exceptional profiles)
- Demonstrated depth across multiple programs, including LIHTC and HUD programs (Section 8 varieties strongly preferred); USDA Rural Development exposure is a plus
- Hands-on experience completing and reviewing tenant income certifications and eligibility files, with willingness to stay close to tactical review work near-term
- Ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly to technical teams without needing to write code
- Preferred certifications include COS, HCCP, CPO, SHCM, or TCS (support available to obtain certifications if needed)
- Total compensation range: $125,000 to $200,000 (base plus bonus potential), with up to $200,000 at the top end of the salary range and 0% bonus potential
- Equity included as part of the offer
- Light travel, approximately monthly or less
- Relocation support available on a case-by-case basis, and remote work considered for the right profile
- Full benefits package including all major insurance, 401k, and PTO
