Job Summary

Assist department staff and perform general office duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle routine office inquiries from employees and students.
  • Assist in day-to-day maintenance and responsibilities of the department.
  • Perform clerical functions including answering phones, filing, scheduling, organizing, etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide campus tours and conduct informational presentations at the Zaffirini Student Success Center.
  • Assist with various recruitment events on‑and‑off campus.
  • Offer assistance with recruitment and academic advising for new incoming students.

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half‑time (6 credit hours for undergraduate, 3 for graduate).
  • Maintain TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates, 3.0 for graduates.
  • Meet all other requirements per TAMIU Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with personal computer workstations and common software applications.
  • Ability to organize and multitask to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

  • Position requires on‑campus, face‑to‑face interactions.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace, subject to class schedule.
  • Complete all required trainings promptly.
  • Submit bi‑weekly timesheet.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Subject to funding and/or need.
