A Brief Overview
Under the general supervision of Lab Leadership: As part of the training program will learn and perform the phlebotomy process, process laboratory specimens, data entry, and specimen transport as ordered by the respective clinicians. Must exhibit the ability to work independently and provide customer service using CHOP ICARE values and Service Standards.
What you will do
- Participate in Phlebotomy training program learning to:
- Identify patient as per established procedures
- Review orders in the hospital information system and laboratory information system and release orders
- Perform venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy following established procedures
- Correctly label specimens and verify patient identity
- Learn and demonstrate the following Customer Service
- Guided by CHOP ICARE and Service Standards
- Interfacing with laboratory staff, medical staff, medical courier, and vendors
- Provide a collaborative experience
- Diffuse anger or frustration, seek to provide solutions
- Answer questions and direct to appropriate answers, resources, or subject matter experts
- Proper phone etiquette following established procedures
- Ensure a warm tone of voice

- Exhaust all options when problem-solving to avoid re-collection
- Works collaboratively and effectively with co-workers and staff in order to resolve conflicts and meet departmental and institutional goals.
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Able to work within in a project team environment (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge: English language, customer service, public safety and security (Required proficiency)
- Technology skills: electronic mail, Microsoft Office applications, typing, internet software, Microsoft Windows (Required proficiency)
- Other skills: active listening, reading comprehension, critical thinking, speaking, complex problem solving, monitoring, time management, writing, active learning, coordination, judgment and decision making, service orientation, social perceptiveness. (Required proficiency)

SALARY RANGE:
$1.00 - $18.00 Hourly
