As part of the Office for Student Success, Academic Success and Retention Programs provides targeted interventions, outreach and academic support programs to incoming and enrolled undergraduates, including scholarship cohorts, first-generation, and transfer students. We work closely with students and campus partners to provide comprehensive, holistic wraparound services as we understand the many factors that impact a student's ability to be successful.
Position Specific Summary
The Student Success Coach role is to improve student persistence and success at George Washington University. The position will have significant interaction with students to provide academic support with the goal of enhancing student success. The role also includes
  • Implementation of individualized academic success programs to improve academic progress for undergraduate students.
  • Personalized outreach to students who are candidates for academic support programs including Mid-Semester Courses, Faculty Feedback, and Summer Academy
Standard Position Description
The student will coach individuals needing individual and/or academic support. Tasks may include: with a high level of autonomy identify, intervene, and coach individuals to succeed in their goals, conduct focus groups and/or interviews, work collaboratively with data management platforms and professional staff to obtain and compile applicable information, identify and connect individuals with supportive resources. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.
