Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
Fairmont State is piloting a “Flight School” peer mentorshipprogram which aims to provide support and guidance to students newto the university. Student Directors will play an instrumental rolein the design and implementation of this new program.
- Recruit students to become peer mentors (up to 20)
- Recruit student participants to become mentees
- Assist in the design and implementation of mentor training
- Plan and schedule mentorship meetings; coordinate the space, refreshments and supply needs
- Ensure all events are properly registered in Engage and ensure attendance is tracked
- Develop a system for and collect feedback from mentors and student participants (mentees)
- Evaluate feedback and share key observations and insights with the Senior Director.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Student Directors will earn a stipend of $1000 and can expect to work around 5 hours per week.
Must be a current Fairmont State student in good academic and disciplinary standing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with event planning
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a leadership and/or mentorship role
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.
- Working knowledge of Fairmont State University programs and offices.
- Experience as a First Flight leader or similar role at Fairmont State
