Student Accounts Collections CoordinatorThe Student Accounts Collections Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the collection of delinquent student account balances for current and prior students. Duties may include providing exceptional customer service, executing internal collections communications, accepting payments, working with an external collection agency, and answering questions related to student accounts.ResponsibilitiesEffectively communicate university policies and procedures related to student accountsReview past due accounts to determine appropriate action, and assume responsibility for effective follow up on past due accountsProvide information regarding payment responsibilities and options for payment on accountsGather information and prepare documentation to refer accounts to external collection agencyEnsure holds are placed on the appropriate student accountsAnalyze and investigate accounts to determine accuracy; contact appropriate department or agency to verify validity of transactionsReceive payments on student accounts and process daily reportsProcess and maintain accurate and timely student accounts recordsCollaborate with other departments and divisions across campusWork with and train student workersOther duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree or 3-5 years of closely related experiencePrevious collections experience preferredBilingual (Spanish speaking) preferredExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalWillingness to work high volume of inbound and outbound phone callsProficiency in using student information systems, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite applicationsAbility to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environmentCommitted to customer service and quality workAbility to handle confidential information with integrity and counsel students in a caring and positive mannerIs self-reliant, proactive, and makes a positive impression on othersPhysical DemandsAbility to communicate via speech, hearing and sight – frequentlyAbility to sit – frequentlyAbility to stand for an extended period – occasionallyAbility to walk reasonable distances – occasionallyAbility to lift or move objects up to 25 lbs. – occasionallyAbility to climb or reach overhead – occasionallyAbility to bend or stoop – occasionallyHouston Christian University is an independent, private Christian liberal arts institution with a diverse student body.
