Tamarack Grove Engineering is a structural engineering firm built on relationships, with a growing presence across North America. We work across five market sectors — Commercial, Manufacturing, Facilities, Modular, and Federal/Public, delivering structural solutions for clients from coast to coast. Our team is tight-knit, our work is meaningful, and our culture is grounded in six core values: Relationships, Servant Leadership, Respect, Joy, Integrity, and Go Beyond.
The Opportunity
Our Bozeman, Montana office is the next chapter of our growth story, and we are looking for the right leader to build what comes next. You will establish a strong local presence in Montana while leading projects and relationships that reach across the country. We are looking for an engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit who wants to do more than the technical work: someone who will hire and develop local talent at all levels, grow business in the Bozeman market and beyond, and help steward a national client portfolio. And you will do it from a city where world-class skiing, fly fishing, and trail access are not a weekend trip; they are a Tuesday.
You will have the full backing of an established firm, with proven systems, an existing client base, a strong culture, and the infrastructure to support your growth, along with the latitude to build something you can genuinely call your own.
The Role
The Structural Engineering Team Leader for our Bozeman office will carry full ownership of team production, team leadership, client relationships, business development, and daily office operations. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a supervisory one. We are looking for someone who is equally energized by solving a complex structural problem, earning a client's repeat business, and making sure the people around them are set up to do their best work.
What You Will Do
Technical Production and Quality
- Maintain meaningful personal production output, including complex structural projects with full engineer of record accountability
- Provide QA/QC of structural design work performed by all team engineers, and seal and stamp work in accordance with P.E. responsibilities
- Maintain and update firm wide engineering standards for production and design based on current codes and best practices
Project and Financial Management
- Prepare and oversee project proposals, fee estimates, specifications, budgets, schedules, and invoices
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities across the team to meet client deadlines and profitability targets
- Set and forecast team financial goals, and monitor team utilization, project margins, and labor budgets
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, manage, and develop the Bozeman engineering team through coaching, mentorship, consistent feedback, and performance accountability
- Recruit and develop local engineering talent at all levels as the office grows
- Partner with firm leadership on hiring decisions, team structure, and long term office growth
- Lead weekly L10 team meetings, driving accountability, tracking priorities, and maintaining clear team communication
Client Relations and Business Development
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for the Bozeman team's client portfolio, actively maintaining and growing those relationships to drive long term retention and repeat work
- Lead business development through client retention, pursuit of new client relationships, and fee proposal development
- Collaborate with our Business Development and Marketing team on firm level strategy and market sector growth
- Represent Tamarack Grove Engineering at industry events, professional organizations, and in the Bozeman community
Office Operations
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for the Bozeman office, coordinating with our HR, IT, and administrative teams on office related needs.
- Manage daily office operations including supplies, facilities, and vendor communication

- Significant structural engineering project management, client management, and team leadership experience
