A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a Director of Structural Engineering to lead and grow its bridge engineering function. This is a senior leadership role with a strong focus on technical delivery, team development, and client engagement within the transportation/bridge sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead the structural/bridge engineering team, providing both technical and strategic direction
- Oversee the design and delivery of complex bridge and transportation projects
- Act as Engineer of Record on key projects
- Support business development efforts, including client relationship management and proposal development
- Mentor and develop engineering staff across multiple levels
- Ensure quality, compliance, and consistency across all structural deliverables
- Work closely with leadership on growth strategy and market expansion
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 20+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong focus on bridges
- Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) – required
- Proven experience leading teams and delivering large-scale bridge projects
- Strong understanding of DOT standards and industry codes
- Track record of client engagement and supporting business development
