Structural Engineer
Perform structural analysis and design for transportation infrastructure projects. Prepare and oversee plans, calculations, specifications, and supporting documentation. Design miscellaneous transportation structures, including mast arms, overhead sign structures, strain pole systems for signals and overhead signs, custom drainage structures, boardwalks, foundations, and box culverts. Support bridge and box culvert rehabilitation and repair design projects. Coordinate with roadway, drainage, traffic, utility, geotechnical, and survey teams throughout project development. Conduct field reviews and assist with structural assessments as needed. Perform quality control reviews to help maintain accuracy and consistency in deliverables. Train and mentor junior engineering staff. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. Support project management activities, including schedule coordination and technical oversight. Assist with business development and marketing pursuits when needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structures. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida. Minimum of two years of post-PE structural engineering experience. Experience designing transportation-related structures, including traffic signal structures, overhead sign structures, retaining walls, bridge culverts, and bridge rehabilitation projects. Familiarity with FDOT structures design criteria, manuals, and standards. Experience supervising or mentoring engineering staff. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams. Strong working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenBridge Modeler, and related structural design software (ATLAS and Mathcad).
