The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of structures to ensure they are safe, sustainable, and cost-effective. This includes buildings, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure. The Structural Engineer will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to deliver high-quality projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and Analysis
    • Perform calculations to ensure structures can withstand various loads and forces and stamp own drawings
    • Analyze building materials for strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness
    • Work with design engineers to produce standard designs
  2. Project Management
    • Be the single point of contact for all design engineers sending work out to multiple structural consultants
    • Manage the workload to structural consultants with quickest turnaround in mind
    • Participate in meetings with structural consultants to ensure that they have all necessary inputs and produce a high-quality stamped drawing
    • Manage project timelines and budgets relative to structural analysis
    • Support questions coming from construction site related to structural analysis
  3. Compliance and Standards
    • Ensure all designs adhere to local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
  4. Problem Solving
    • Identify and resolve design and construction issues
    • Provide technical advice and support during construction phases
  5. Documentation and Reporting
    • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other documentation
    • Maintain accurate records of design changes and project progress
    • Coaching new engineers in making cost effective and easy to manufacture designs

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in structural engineering or related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in structural analysis software and other engineering design tools
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations
    • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
    • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work
  • Abilities:
    • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time
    • Sitting for extended periods of time
    • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction
    • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard
    • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
    • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
    • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
    • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
    • Identify and understand the speech of another person
