Sr. Structural Engineer
Location: Rockford, IL
Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Sr. Structural Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and delivery of building and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant structural solutions across steel, concrete, and precast systems, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers while managing project budgets and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering design and analysis for commercial, residential, and industrial projects, including steel, concrete, precast, and foundation systems.
- Perform detailed load calculations, structural analysis, and foundation investigations to develop safe, efficient designs that meet client requirements and applicable building codes.
- Produce and review structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit; ensure accuracy and constructability.
- Develop and monitor project budgets and schedules; provide cost-effective design recommendations and value engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients to resolve design issues, review submittals, and support construction phases.
- Provide technical mentorship and oversight to junior engineers and drafters; conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience with demonstrated leadership on building projects involving steel, concrete, and precast elements.
- Proficient in structural analysis and design, with hands-on experience performing load calculations and foundation analysis.
- Strong experience with AutoCAD and Revit for producing and reviewing structural drawings and BIM coordination.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client communications; ability to provide value engineering recommendations.
