Structural Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support projects within the commercial nuclear power industry. This is a remote contract opportunity requiring prior experience with commercial nuclear standards and QA programs (non‑governmental nuclear projects).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review engineering documents related to:
- Pipe supports
- Building structural modifications
- Rigging and load evaluations
- Perform structural analysis using established nuclear industry codes and standards
- Conduct piping analysis in accordance with ASME B31.1 (preferred)
- Apply AISC Allowable Stress Design (ASD) methodology for steel structures
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to meet project timelines and quality requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Structural, Mechanical, or related discipline)
- 5–10 years of experience as a Structural Engineer in the commercial nuclear industry
- Strong knowledge of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Quality Assurance requirements
- Proficiency in MathCAD Prime and GT STRUDL
- Experience with legacy nuclear design codes and documentation practices
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing piping analysis per ASME B31.1
- Prior experience supporting operating nuclear power plants
- Familiarity with nuclear plant modification projects and balance‑of‑plant systems
