JOB DESCRIPTION: STRUCTURAL ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING

Specific Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
• Have an in-depth understanding and ability to analyze and design according to current design codes, design criteria, and structural mechanics
• Design of Permanent Structures such as bridges, sign foundations, moment slabs, MSE Walls, etc.
• Design of Temporary Structures including, but not limit to:
o Formwork/Falsework Design
o Erection, Demolition, and Heavy Lift Planning
o Support of Excavation Systems
o Load Rating and Evaluation of Existing Structures
o Temporary Bridges and Work Trestles
o Fall Protection Systems
o Barge Analysis
• On-Site Design Engineering Support and Inspections
• Coordinate with Project Engineers and Project Managers to resolve issues.
• Assist with material and shop drawing submittals.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college of university (Master's Degree or greater is preferred)
• GPA above 3.0 preferred
• 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience
• Experience with permanent and temporary structures, construction engineering, or construction labor is a plus
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or the ability to do so within the first year of employment
• Strong understanding of constructability and academic knowledge of structural engineering
• Experience with engineering design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, RISA-3D, MathCAD, Sky Civ, etc.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised.
• Team player and self-motivated to be successful.
• Legally able to work in the US.
