Structural Bridge Engineer Project ManagerVHB is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer/Project Manager to join the dynamic and growing Structures group in our Wethersfield, CT office. In this position, you would serve in a lead role in the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation related structural projects, as well as helping to lead and mentor our technical staff. Sponsored by Deloitte Private* and The Wall Street Journal, the Best Managed Company program recognizes outstanding U.S. private companies demonstrating excellence in four key areas: strategy, ability to execute, corporate culture and governance/financial performance.Learn more about our Structures practice at VHB: Bridges & Structures | VHBResponsibilitiesManages, develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for bridge-focused transportation projectsPrepares proposals and/or contracts; Participates in project decisions regarding technical approach, costs, and schedulingResponsible for client relationships, visibility, and business developmentDirects and mentors team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.Project management/task managementReviews plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirementsSkills and AttributesExtensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineeringDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsDetail oriented and quality focusedStrong project management skillsMotivated to lead and mentor othersKnowledge of structural engineering software (AASHTOWare, LARSA 4D, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, Mathcad)AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation v8 and Connect experience is a strong plusQualifications8-11 years of professional experience in structural bridge design, construction phasing, and complex bridge projects requiredBachelor's degree in civil engineering required (structural emphasis preferred)Master's degree preferred and may substitute for 1-2 years of experiencePE license requiredExperience completing transportation studies, design reports, final design documents and developing contract plans, in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures including AASHTO & DOTIndependent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete), and seismic analysisBuilding what's next, together.Our people make the difference.
