Store Manager | University of Michigan: Westgate

About the Role

Legends Global Merchandise is the official team store for the University of Michigan Athletic Department. The 9,000 square‑foot Westgate retail store will feature collectibles, team‑specific products, athlete (NIL) jerseys, and exclusive items. The role is to supervise and coordinate daily operations, ensuring an exceptional customer experience for Michigan fans.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day store operations and maintain the Total Customer Experience.
• Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers, responding to inquiries and complaints, and demonstrating strong product knowledge.
• Communicate with the Program Team to ensure merchandise availability and maintain accurate inventory.
• Execute visual merchandising directives and manage store displays.
• Hire, train, evaluate, promote, or terminate store personnel; maintain appropriate staffing levels.
• Schedule and assign employee hours, monitor payroll and expenses to meet budget goals.
• Assist the Program Team in reviewing merchandising activities and developing sales promotions.
• Ensure all company policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed.
• Direct store operations during game days and special events.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of retail industry experience.
• Associate’s degree in retail, business, management, or a related field preferred; a four‑year college degree is an advantage.
• In‑depth knowledge of merchandise, personnel scheduling, and store operations.
• Experience in personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation, and benefits.
• Excellent leadership skills with strong oral and written communication.
• Highly organized, self‑motivated, able to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems and implement solutions.
