Job Description

Position: Store Manager

Overview

A store manager plans, directs, and controls the operation of the store and supervises all employees to manage production, inventory, merchandising, losses, gross and net profit, and hours of work across all departments. They supervise the ordering of products to fill the store, support sales plans, and maximize sales, in addition to ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and, where applicable, the collective bargaining agreement. They are responsible for all hiring, firing, promotions, demotions, and disciplinary actions for all employees.

Job Requirements

  • Pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
  1. Work your required schedule to maintain store conditions and profitability.
  2. Possess good interpersonal skills, be mature, and a proven leader.
  3. Read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  4. Develop and enforce company policies and procedures.
  5. Be a self‑starter.
  6. Travel to and from work up to a maximum drive time of 1 hour.
  7. Give verbal and written instructions.
  8. Read and interpret financial statements, including profit and loss, and set objectives to overcome deficiencies.
  9. Operate all equipment in the store.
  10. Open and close the cash office; set up the cash register drawer, balance store cash, and maintain contact and record daily cash office records.
  11. Provide verbal and written direction to employees.
  12. Supervise the recruiting and training of employees.
  13. Conduct meetings to communicate business results and direction to employees.
  14. Operate telephones, intercoms, and computer systems, and have knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
  15. Write work schedules within the store budget and complete weekly store reports.
  16. Deal effectively with vendors, suppliers, competitors, employees, and (where necessary) employee representatives.
  17. Discipline employees according to company policy when necessary.
  18. Establish, interpret, and administer rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
  19. Have extensive knowledge of and/or be able to perform the duties of the employees in the store.
  20. Maintain a labor‑productive and profitable operation within the location you are managing.
