Position Summary

Plans and directs the day to day operations. Develops strategies to improve customer service, drive convenience store sales, gasoline and cigarette sales, and increase profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for full financial accountability for all profit and loss centers.
  2. Spends considerable time in the operations MBWA (Management by Walking Around).
  3. Responsible for designing and implementing improvement processes and operational policies.
  4. Forecasts staffing needs and develops recruiting strategies to provide optimum staffing in all areas.
  5. Responsible for providing flawless customer service and establish a positive guest perception.
  6. Mentors, coaches and gives direction to team members to instill the spirit of teamwork, communications and planning.
  7. Recruits, interviews, trains and evaluates supervisor/coordinators, team members, deli team members and floor coordinators.
  8. Responsible for merchandising products.
  9. Coordinates work schedules, opening/closing duties, ordering, receiving, and Point-of-Sale training, and merchandising of all products.
  10. Coordinates with manufacturer’s cigarette representatives; developing and maintaining product information for effective and profitable promotional activities:
    • Product buy-downs
    • Product coupons
    • Shelf space allocation
    • Pricing—price changing
  11. Coordinates with accounting for assistance with daily deposits, reports, sales drawer cash over/short, and inventory as well as data entry verification.
  12. Processes all invoices and coordinates payment with accounting department.
  13. Develops annual marketing plan with the assistance of the Resort Marketing Department.
  14. Coordinates marketing materials with vendors.
  15. Develops andmaintains policy and procedures and handling customer transactions including shipping and handling.
  16. Orders gasoline, cigarettes and other goods from distributors.
  17. Inventories all orders when they are delivered.
  18. Ensures customer’s needs are met, complaints resolved, and service is quick, efficient and courteous.
  19. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

  15. Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:

  1. High School Diploma, GED Certification or equivalent.
  2. Four (4) years retail management experience.
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico driver’s license.
  2. Must obtain and maintain a New Mexico Alcohol Server's License prior to hire date.
  3. Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.
  4. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  5. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The following selected physical activities are required to perform the essential functions of this position

Balancing

Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

Kneeling

Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Lifting

Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.

Pulling

Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Pushing

Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Reaching

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Seeing

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Walking

Job requirements include, in the performance of duties, walking throughout the work area, on various work surfaces throughout internal or external locations.

Sitting

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Standing

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Stooping

Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
