Overview
Our client is seeking a Store Manager to lead the opening and ongoing success of its first flagship store in SoHo, New York. This full‑time, on‑site role is a hands‑on selling manager position with responsibility for sales leadership, daily operations, team management, loss prevention, and a highly personalized luxury client experience. The store will represent a growing luxury business known for fine and high jewelry, including one‑of‑a‑kind pieces, with expanding categories in fragrance and apparel. Responsibilities
- Lead the launch of the flagship store, supporting the full opening process to ensure a successful and timely debut.
- Partner with leadership and external vendors on store opening priorities, including operations, security, technology, visual presentation, and back‑of‑house setup.
- Help define the store operating model, including hours, staffing coverage, service approach, and year‑one budget planning.
- Recruit, onboard, schedule, and develop the founding store team, including keyholders and sales associates.
- Set the tone for a luxury service culture through coaching, daily leadership, product knowledge training, and clear client experience standards.
- Drive store performance against approximately $5M in first‑year revenue, while personally contributing approximately $1M in individual sales.
- Build and maintain a strong clienteling strategy through outreach, appointments, follow‑up, special orders, and private selling.
- Deliver a high‑touch selling experience across jewelry, fragrance, and apparel, identifying opportunities for cross‑category selling and increased basket size.
- Support launch assortment planning and provide ongoing feedback on sell‑through, client demand, and replenishment needs.
- Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, deposits, shipment processing, transfers, repairs, and documentation.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and serialized product integrity through cycle counts, full counts, and disciplined stockroom organization.
- Enforce loss prevention, high‑value product handling, and security protocols, including key, safe, and vault controls.
- Manage controllable expenses and support store profitability through strong operational discipline.
- Ensure the store environment meets elevated visual and service standards, with strong attention to presentation, lighting, cleanliness, and organization.
- Plan and execute store events, private appointments, previews, and local partnership activity to drive qualified traffic and client acquisition.
- Track and report key business metrics, including traffic, conversion, average transaction value, units per transaction, client growth, outreach activity, and event results.
Requirements
- Several years of Store Manager experience in luxury retail sales.
- Required experience in fine jewelry or high jewelry.
- Proven success as a selling manager, with the ability to achieve individual sales goals while leading overall store performance.
- Experience serving a broad luxury clientele with varied tastes, from classic to more fashion‑forward or directional styles.
- Comfort working in a smaller, entrepreneurial company environment where flexibility and hands‑on execution are essential.
- Strong leadership skills with experience hiring, coaching, and performance managing store teams.
- Solid operational and administrative capabilities, including inventory control, cash management, compliance, and loss prevention.
- Ability to manage high‑value merchandise with discretion, accuracy, and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting client relationships and represent the business with polish and credibility.
- Availability to work full‑time on site in New York, NY.
- Compensation is expected to be in the $150,000 to $180,000 total range, inclusive of base salary and commission or bonus opportunity.
