Training Process

During official training weeks, Managers In Training work alongside Training Managers, gaining insight and best practices for managing a convenience store location. During supervisory weeks between training weeks, managers work a variety of shifts, alongside team members, putting leadership training to practice. After training, Managers In Training become part of our bench leadership team, helping to fill in during absences until assigned to their own store.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet guests with a warm welcome and a smile to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Assist the Store Manager with building and developing a strong team: training, scheduling, and coaching. Set clear, measurable goals, hold self and others accountable, and communicate frequently and effectively.
  • Monitor product levels on the sales floor, rotate stock, and keep product levels full to maintain a 100% in‑stock experience.
  • Oversee quality control, merchandising, and food safety programs in locations that offer hot food.
  • Maintain a clean store: ensure the coffee station is clean and stocked, the food service area is spotless, and bathrooms are sparkling clean. Delegate and complete these tasks as necessary.
  • Operate the cash register efficiently.
  • When applicable, oversee additional quality, merchandising, and safety programs for hot food locations and perform duties assigned by the Store Manager or District Manager.

Timing and Conditions

Full‑time—40 regular hours maximum with 5 hours of overtime required. Weekend and holiday hours are required. This position involves a variety of day and night shifts, including some 24‑hour openings depending on the store.

Travel

5% travel required. Ability to deliver deposits to the bank independently (where applicable) and own vehicle if needed.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Must stand or walk for 8 hours a day, reach overhead, bend, squat, twist, grasp, and work in cooler temperatures. Noise level is usually moderate.

Other

Specialized attire required in food establishments (hats, visors, gloves, etc. provided).

Minimum Education

High School or GED.

Preferred Education

None specified.

Minimum Experience

1 year in retail or food service.

Preferred Experience

1 year in retail, guest service, or restaurant in a leadership role.

Preferred Licenses / Certifications and Skills

ServSafe / Food Safety certification a plus but not mandatory.

Soft Skills
