The Store Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Matthews, NC.

The Store Manager will oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, inventory management, cleanliness and safety standards, scheduling, employee training, and customer service. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working alongside their team and leading by example.

The Store Manager will:

• Lead, train, coach, and motivate team members.
• Create a positive, respectful, and supportive workplace.
• Build employee confidence and help team members develop their customer service and leadership skills.
• Create staff schedules and ensure appropriate coverage.
• Oversee daily opening and closing procedures.
• Handle cash, deposits, and basic financial reporting.
• Monitor inventory and help minimize waste and product loss.
• Maintain high standards for cleanliness, food safety, and store appearance.
• Ensure consistent product quality and excellent customer service.
• Address customer concerns professionally and effectively.
• Monitor sales performance and help identify opportunities for growth.
• Implement basic loss-prevention practices to safeguard cash, inventory, and store assets.
• Support local marketing, community involvement, and events that help drive traffic and build customer loyalty.
• Model professionalism, reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
• Work alongside the team during busy periods and help wherever needed.

Bruster’s is a seasonal business, and the Store Manager will help prepare the store for each season.

During the slower months of November through February, the Store Manager will have an important role in using the slower season productively by focusing on:

• Deep cleaning and organizing the store.
• Improving systems and organization.
• Reviewing inventory and reducing waste.
• Training and developing team members.
• Preparing equipment and supplies for the upcoming season.
• Identifying areas for operational improvement.
• Getting the shop fully prepared for the busy spring and summer months.

• Starting pay of $20/hour, with opportunities for growth based on experience and performance.

• Strong customer-facing skills with a focus on creating positive guest experiences and customer satisfaction.
• Excellent communication skills to lead staff, resolve issues, and interact professionally with customers and vendors.
• Previous experience in store management or a similar retail or food-service leadership role.
• Experience with scheduling, cash handling, inventory oversight, and daily operations.
• Understanding of basic retail loss-prevention practices.
• Proven ability to supervise, coach, encourage, and motivate a diverse team.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive workplace.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic math and computer skills for POS operation, reporting, and record-keeping.
• Ability to work full-time on-site, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in ice cream, quick-service restaurants, food service, or retail is preferred.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 lbs.
