Onsite Full Time Management & Operations

Overview

Our client is seeking a Store Manager to lead the opening and day-to-day operation of a new Madison Avenue boutique in New York. This is a full-time, fully on-site selling leadership role with end-to-end ownership of a small luxury jewelry store, including sales, client development, operations, and team oversight. The position offers the opportunity to shape a new location from pre-opening through launch, supported by an established downtown business, a strong existing client base, and a founder-led team with a distinct point of view in fine jewelry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the leader of the Madison Avenue boutique, with full responsibility for store performance and daily operations.
  • Act as a selling manager on the floor, closing sales personally, leading by example, and maintaining a meaningful personal book of business.
  • Drive revenue against first-year goals by cultivating existing uptown clients and developing new relationships within the neighborhood and broader luxury market.
  • Build and manage a proactive clienteling approach through phone, text, and direct outreach, with a focus on repeat business and collector relationships.
  • Oversee all store operations, including:
    • Opening and closing procedures
    • Cash handling and daily reconciliation
    • Inventory control and stock accuracy
    • Transfers with the downtown atelier
    • Security procedures and coordination with on-site security
    • Repairs, special orders, and custom requests
  • Create and manage the store schedule across a seven-day operation, ensuring effective coverage and smooth execution.
  • Supervise and support one sales associate, providing direction, coaching, and daily leadership.
  • Partner closely with leadership and the broader team on product knowledge, client service, merchandising, and operational priorities.
  • Support pre-opening activities, including:
    • Managing the final punch list with the build team
    • Helping set merchandising and case layout
    • Training on product and brand standards
    • Providing input on hiring for the boutique team
  • Drive local business development through neighborhood partnerships, trunk shows, and relationships with nearby hotels, galleries, and other luxury businesses.
  • Maintain consistent communication with leadership, escalating issues early and ensuring the boutique operates to a high standard from day one.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a selling manager in luxury fine jewelry, preferably within a designer, high jewelry, independent house, or Madison Avenue / Fifth Avenue boutique environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry a personal book of business and close sales directly while leading store operations.
  • Established Manhattan client relationships that can translate to a new boutique setting, particularly among high-value collectors and repeat luxury clients.
  • Strong clienteling skills, with fluency in phone and text-based selling and follow-up.
  • Hands-on experience running a small store, including scheduling, opening and closing, inventory management, and security protocol.
  • Self-directed leadership style with the ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and maintain strong communication with an off-site leadership team.
  • Availability to work fully on-site in New York and support a seven-day retail operation.
  • Store opening experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with local marketing, events, and relationship building in the luxury neighborhood ecosystem is a plus.
  • Familiarity with high karat gold, artisanal jewelry, or hand-crafted product is valued.
  • Additional language skills are a plus, given an international clientele.
