About the Role
The Store Manager is accountable for leading the profitable operations of the store. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for new store opening, operational excellence, performance management, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Store Opening & Operations Management – Proactively cooperate with headquarters to support implementation and monitoring of new store initiatives, ensuring a successful store opening.
- Coordinate store concept and construction implementation.
- Manage materials and product receiving, as well as layout and display.
- Recruit and build the store team in preparation for opening and ongoing operations.
- Communicate the company’s strategy and ensure execution through planning and timely follow‑up.
- Monitor market trends and competition, and execute effective game plans to consistently improve performance.
- Analyze and interpret sales and financial reports to assess opportunities; provide guidance to the store team for continuous improvement.
- Review and analyze store shrinkage and safety performance; identify trends and implement appropriate improvement plans.
- Human Management – Recruit and develop leaders, building a deep talent bench for store leadership positions.
- Lead by example as a champion of people while delivering consistent results in sales, service, and profitability through operational excellence.
- Conduct store walks with Operations Manager, Department Managers, and sales personnel to assess sales, service, and profitability opportunities; create effective improvement plans.
- Monitor associate engagement levels and drive employer‑of‑choice initiatives.
- Coach and train store management and associates on operational processes, merchandising standards, store appearance, profitability, and community connection.
Qualifications
- Experience managing in the big‑box Home Improvement retail industry (required).
- Experience recruiting and developing a talented team aligned with company vision.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, on‑site work environment.
- Experience building and maintaining cross‑functional relationships in a matrix environment.
- Experience analyzing customer, market, and competitor data to implement business plans.
- Experience managing and sponsoring the implementation of corporate or local change initiatives.
- Ability to obtain sales‑related licensure or registration as may be required by law.
Additional Requirements
- Industry background: Big‑box retail / home improvement (e.g., Home Depot, Lowe’s).
- Salary: $100–$150k USD (negotiable).
