Storage Support System AdministratorTAP Engineering is seeking System Administrators at the II and III levels to provide enterprise and HPC-focused storage sustainment support in large-scale, mission-critical environments. This role is responsible for the sustainment of the entire storage environment across two geographically dispersed locations, supporting heterogeneous, multi-vendor high-performance storage platforms, mass storage subsystems, and fiber channel interconnection fabrics. This position operates in a complex computing environment and requires strong troubleshooting skills, operational discipline, and the ability to support mission-critical systems with high availability requirements.Key Responsibilities (All Levels):Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systemsSupport day-to-day operations, monitoring, and incident response for storage environmentsManage and sustain enterprise and HPC storage systemsSupport client/server, storage, and network devicesProvide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support based on experience levelEscalate issues appropriately and communicate status to Government and internal stakeholdersSupport dispatch operations for hardware-related issues and remain engaged through resolutionOptimize system performance and resource utilizationPerform system capacity analysis and planningProvide detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysisDocument system configurations, procedures, and sustainment activitiesFollow Government-defined ticketing, change management, and operational proceduresMaintain accurate system documentation and recordsLevel Differentiation System Administrator II (Mid-Level) Focus: Independent operations, Tier 2 ownership, and advanced troubleshootingIndependently administers enterprise and HPC storage systemsProvides Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, including advanced troubleshootingPerforms root cause analysis and remediationManages daily configuration and operational health of storage environmentsSupports multi-vendor storage platforms and fiber channel fabricsExecutes storage deployments, upgrades, and transitionsProvides detailed analysis and feedback for escalated incidentsServes as an escalation point for junior staffSystem Administrator III (Senior / SME) Focus: Technical leadership, architecture, and complex problem resolutionServes as a technical lead and subject matter expert for storage environmentsResolves highly complex storage, system, and integration issuesSupports storage system design, architecture, and long-term planningAnalyzes system interdependencies within enterprise and HPC environmentsLeads major incident response effortsPerforms long-term capacity planning and optimizationProvides detailed technical analysis and reporting for escalated issuesMentors junior administratorsActs as the final technical escalation authorityRequired Qualifications (All Levels):Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (most recent poly within the last 7 years)DoD 8570 IAT II certificationExperience administering Linux-, Unix-, or Windows-based systemsExperience supporting enterprise or HPC storage environmentsStrong troubleshooting and documentation skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to support mission-critical systems in a 24/7 operational environment (as required)Ability to collaborate with Government and contractor personnelBenefits Overview TAP Engineering offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:Paid Time Off: 15–25 days annually based on tenure, plus 11 paid holidays (never use-or-lose)Retirement: Up to 15% employer contribution to a 401(k) through match and profit sharingMedical Coverage: Free medical insurance for employees, with optional buy-up plans for dependentsDental & Vision: Employer-paid plans with optional enhancementsInsurance Coverage: Employer-paid life insurance, AD&D, short-term disability, and long-term disabilityFlexible Spending Accounts: Healthcare and dependent care FSAsTuition Reimbursement: Up to $36,000 per year for approved courseworkAdditional Benefits: Employee Assistance Program, wellness incentives, discount programs, virtual care, prescription savings, and travel supportPerformance-Based Rewards: Merit increases, performance bonuses, and referral bonusesClearance Requirement This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph, based on a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI/SBI).
