Job DescriptionEssential Functions and Job Responsibilities:The Instrument Technician provides services which include but are not limited to:Decontamination, preparation and packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments. Dependable and reliable service is expected to ensure instruments are processed and distributed quickly to enhance patient care quality.Clean instruments with appropriate solution, scrub brushes, etc.Pass all hinged instruments through ultrasound.Inspect instruments for cleanliness and wear before packaging.Package instruments with appropriate labeling.Sterilize instruments using autoclave/magna clave.Document instrument batches.Document spore test daily.Clean autoclave/magna clave per protocol.Ensure autoclave/magna clave is functioning efficiently.Return instruments to appropriate departments.Ensure instruments are stored in a safe and sterile fashion.Run a minimum of three loads daily.Provide in-service training to staff as needed.Place orders and/or submit orders for all locations.Follow all IFU's guidelines for instrument sterilization.Facilitate maintenance of sterilization equipment and troubleshoot any issues as needed.Provide training to new sterilization technicians.Ensure the department is compliant with all regulatory standards specific to the care, handling, and storage of sterile instruments.Proper documentation of hours worked by clocking in and out as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma required.Applicant must hold a CRCST CertificationTravel is required to and from any Summit Health location throughout the workday as needed. Reimbursement will be provided for authorized transportation and travel incurred in connection with carrying out responsibilities for the position.Pay Range: $17.60 - $21.30 HourlyThe provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
