Our client, a well-established public accounting and advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Senior State & Local Tax (SALT) Manager to join its growing tax practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys advising clients on complex state and local tax matters while leading projects, mentoring teams, and contributing to practice growth.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior SALT Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the implementation of sales tax compliance technology solutions to meet client business requirements, including ERP integrations and onboarding clients onto automated tax compliance platforms.
- Managing sales tax compliance and technology implementation projects from planning through delivery.
- Advising clients on a broad range of state and local tax matters, including multi‑state income tax, franchise tax, sales and use tax, and gross receipts tax.
- Delivering practical, value‑added tax planning and consulting solutions tailored to clients' operational and strategic objectives.
- Mentoring, coaching, and developing junior team members to support their technical and professional growth.
- Working closely with client leadership to determine engagement objectives, define project scope, and deliver high-quality advisory services.
- Leveraging tax technology and automation tools to improve efficiency and enhance client service.
- Supporting business development initiatives through networking, relationship management, and identifying opportunities to expand existing client engagements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in public accounting with a focus on State & Local Tax (SALT).
- Active CPA licence or Bar admission.
- Strong technical knowledge of multi‑state taxation, including sales and use tax, income tax, franchise tax, and related state tax issues.
- Experience implementing or supporting sales tax automation solutions and ERP integrations.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop tax professionals.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client engagements and business development activities.
