The ideal candidate will have a background in state and local income tax, property tax, or sales tax. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base and to contribute to the growth and success of our Grand Rapids, Michigan-based SALT practice.

This position is available in our Troy, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; or Houston, TX offices.Responsibilities:Prepare state and local sales tax returns, personal property tax returns, C-corporation, S-corporation, and Partnership income returnsConduct research and provide technical advice on state and local tax issuesAssist clients with state and local tax audits, including audit defense and negotiationStay current on state and local tax laws and regulations and communicate changes to clients and team membersResearch technical matters related to state and local taxCollaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive client serviceQualifications:Bachelor's and/or master's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related fieldCPA or CPA track preferred, but not required1 year of experience in state and local tax, preferably in a public accounting or consulting firmKnowledge of state and local tax laws and regulationsExcellent, analytical, problem-solving, and research skills, and written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentFamiliarity in Microsoft Office Suite and CCH Axcess/GoSystem Tax, Avalara/Vertext/TaxJar, or TaxScribe, as relevantLocated within commuting distance of Troy or Grand Rapids, MI or Houston, TX.Doeren Mayhew is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
