Our transportation practice is seeking a staff structural design engineer for our Chicago office. Our ideal candidate is someone with strong technical, interpersonal and communication skills who can collaborate effectively with a team.ResponsibilitiesWork with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in the design and production of drawings for projects with transportation related structures; not limited to bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.Applies strong knowledge of commonly used civil and structural engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the transportation industry.Perform design/review of structural calculations from the conceptual phase through design completion.Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers.Perform field inspections or measurements.Attend project meetings.QualificationsBachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.Or Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering a plus.Minimum 3 years structural engineering experience in the design of highway structures for IDOT, Illinois Tollway preferred. Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) design experience a plus.Illinois Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering License (SE)preferred or ability to obtain.Must have a good understanding of structural design principles, or an aptitude to develop.   Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present information.Must have good attention to detail, organization, and critical thinking skills.Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software including MicroStation and Open Bridge Modeler.Experience with design software including MDX, LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare, Midas Civil , or other comparable technical design and modeling software.Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (e,g.
