You will be making a vital contribution to the New Product Development pipeline and transforming patient care through innovation. Our Staff Software Engineer leads software/firmware development projects that provide creative, functional, cost effective, and validated product designs in a team-based environment. This is an opportunity for a key role in bringing exciting new products to market in support of the J&J Vision.

This role is expected to contribute independently to the completion of project goals as well as work collaboratively with other cross-function teams.You will:Lead embedded software architecture, design, and development for safety critical medical device applicationDevelop code as part of larger software development projects. Evaluate available options and implement the best approachesAdhere to all procedures for end-to-end software / firmware development life cycle including requirements, design, coding, unit testing, system integration, and software releaseHands-on troubleshooting to resolve system, hardware, and software issues requiring data analysis to identify underlying root causeOversight of development and deliverables from outsourced vendorServe as subject matter expert in areas of competenceUnderstands and applies Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with teamQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 4 years, or Ph.D. with 2 years of experience in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.Experience with LabVIEW RT or LabVIEW FPGA Modules ( FPGA experience using LabVIEW and National Instrument hardware is a must)Demonstrated ability in software / firmware development delivering reliable, testable and maintainable code for embedded systemExperience with hardware / software integration and issue resolutionProficiency in LabVIEW under Windows or LinuxExperience with software development best-practices, source code control, requirement and design documentation, code review, and software releaseExperience with at least one full cycle of commercial product releaseExperience working with cross-functional teams and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators in a fast-paced goal-driven environmentStrong communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsPreferred:Proficiency in C/C++ is a PLUSExperience working in FDA regulated industryExperience with Python, UML, C# or QtExperience with RTOS and hardware communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS485, TCP, UDPExperience with board bring-upExperience with motion / servo control, bootloader, camera ISPProficient in Windows API, DLLs, and interfacesFamiliarity with DevOps, and Agile software developmentRapid prototyping experienceAbility to read and understand PCB schematicsExperience with signal/ image processing and computer visionStrong familiarity with LabVIEW Object Oriented Programming (LVOOP)LabVIEW Professional Certifications: Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD), Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA), or LabVIEW Associate DeveloperOther:Ability to travel up to 10%Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
