As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi‑functional development team inventing, designing, building and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. - Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa's internal standards for scalability, security and reusability.
- Collaborate multi‑functionally to create design artifacts and develop best‑in‑class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings.

Essential Functions
- Demonstrate relevant technical working knowledge to understand requirements.
- Identify and contribute to development and solution strategies that improve the design and functionality of interface features across one or more projects, under minimal guidance.
- Apply standard processes for programming languages (e.g., HTML, C++, Java) to write code that fulfills technical requirements.
- Collaborate with others to pilot new technology capabilities and features that enhance the user‑website experience across e‑commerce products.
- Analyze bugs for simple issues and apply debugging tools to verify assumptions.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 2+ years of work experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA, JD, MD), or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in software engineering or a directly related field.
- Experience developing and/or implementing web‑based or mobile applications.
- Experience with or without direct reports in a leadership role.
- Experience in technologies/software systems or a directly related field.
- Experience creating and maintaining test plans and executing testing procedures.
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting software issues.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Experience in code review and applying coding standards.
- Experience building or enhancing developer tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 4+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA, JD, MD), or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
- Experience designing and building generative AI systems beyond simple prompt usage, including retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
- Experience integrating LLMs into production systems, including prompt orchestration, response evaluation, and handling hallucinations or grounding issues.
- Proven ability to build end‑to‑end GenAI features, from data ingestion and backend services to APIs and downstream consumers (UI, services or internal tools).
- Experience working with container‑based technologies.Experience building and testing enterprise‑scale web services.
- Experience in product development.
- Experience working on client‑facing projects or technical teams.
