Note: Santa Clara Valley Medical Center is a 574-bed acute care public teaching hospital affiliated with Stanford University Medical School. TBH supports the Santa Clara County Main Jail Complex. The Main Jail uses a direct supervision model with capacity for up to 854 inmates. The inpatient unit cases are similar to other acute psychiatric inpatient units in the community.

Responsibilities

• 40 hours per week
• Covers psychiatric patients arrested to provide initial evaluation, start or continue treatment, and admit to the inpatient unit if necessary.
• Access to a clinical social worker to triage less acute patients when the unit becomes busy.

Detention Outpatient Services

• 40 hours per week
• Covers psychiatric patients arrested to provide initial evaluation, start or continue treatment, and admit to the inpatient unit if necessary.
• Access to a clinical social worker to triage less acute patients when the unit becomes busy.

Detention Inpatient Services

• 41 bed inpatient unit
• Average Daily Census of 30; with no official cap
• Monday - Friday 7 AM - 11 PM
• Average caseload of 8-13 cases per psychiatrist
• Covers psychiatric patients arrested to provide initial evaluation, start or continue treatment, and admit to the inpatient unit if necessary.
• Access to a clinical social worker to triage less acute patients when the unit becomes busy.
