Staff Psychiatrist – CF (Safety)

Under the general direction of the Senior Psychiatrist (Sup), the Psychiatrist in Mental Health Services works as part of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team that delivers general population outpatient services to inmates. The team includes other psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric social workers within a designated Service Area.

The core responsibilities include: conducting psychiatric evaluations; participating in treatment planning and case reviews; prescribing medications; providing crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and clinical consultation; and training clinical and custody staff in treatment approaches.

Minimum Qualifications

• Board‑certified psychiatrist with a valid medical license.
• Residency in psychiatry and, when possible, fellowship in correctional or forensic psychiatry.
• Experience caring for incarcerated or offender populations.
• Proficiency in evaluation, medication management, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
