Power & Performance Engineer – SoC / CPU / GPU / AI (Staff level)
Full-Time Permanent Contract
Total Comp: Equity, Annual Bonus, Standard Benefits, Healthcare Plan
A leading semiconductor company designing high-performance chipset platforms used across a broad range of consumer and industrial products. Their systems and architecture teams own the power, performance and thermal behaviour of chipsets spanning CPU, GPU, AI/NPU, modem and multimedia subsystems.
They are looking to add experienced Power & Performance Engineers across teams covering GPU/AI power modelling, thermal and peak-current limits management, and cross-chipset performance benchmarking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining power models for GPU, CPU, AI/NPU and other SoC subsystems, correlating estimates against silicon and workload data
- Analysing GPU/CPU architecture and microarchitecture to identify power bottlenecks and propose HW, SW or algorithmic optimisations
- Characterising AI/ML workload behaviour and correlating it with power consumption across GPU generations
- Defining and managing thermal performance and peak-current limits, working across power, architecture and design teams to meet reliability standards
- Benchmarking and competitively analysing power/performance across CPU, modem, application processor, multimedia and interconnect against industry devices
- Contributing to architectural trade-off studies that influence chipset and product roadmap decisions
- Collaborating cross-functionally with hardware, software, ML and silicon validation teams
Ideal Profile:
- Strong background in SoC power, performance or thermal engineering (CPU, GPU, AI/NPU or modem)
- Experience with power modelling, DVFS, low-power architecture or performance benchmarking methodologies
- Comfortable working with pre-silicon and post-silicon data, correlating estimates against real measurements
- Familiarity with industry-standard benchmarks and workload characterisation tools
- Staff-level+ experience preferred; open to Senior engineers with clear ownership of power/performance work
- Strong communication skills, able to present technical trade-offs to cross-functional and leadership audiences
This is a strong opportunity to join a market-leading chip architecture organisation, working at the intersection of power, performance and silicon engineering on products shipping at global scale.
