Primary Care Physician – Maryland Correctional Institution – Hagerstown

Location: Hagerstown, MD – Maryland Correctional Institution (MCIH)

Position Type: Full‑Time | Shift: Monday – Friday (Day Shift) | Sign‑On Bonus: $25,000

The Primary Care Physician provides medical assessments and evaluations, treats emergent, urgent, and routine medical issues, supervises medical treatment for chronic conditions, and participates in initiatives to prevent diseases and injuries within the correctional setting. The physician works under the direction of the Site Medical Director and/or the Statewide Medical Director and collaborates with the Health Services Administrator to ensure efficient and clinically appropriate services.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct medical assessments and evaluations of correctional facility residents.
• Provide treatment for emergent, urgent, and routine medical issues.
• Supervise medical treatment for chronic medical conditions.
• Participate in organizational initiatives to prevent diseases and injuries.
• Collaborate with the Site Medical Director, Statewide Medical Director, and Health Services Administrator.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Active and unrestricted MD/DO license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Board Certified or Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Emergency Medicine (EM).
• Current DEA and CDS registration.
• Ability to pass credentialing and background checks.
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred, but not required.
