Staff Performance Engineer, Data Protection & Security Platform Engineering
Looking for an experienced performance engineer to join Cohesity, a leader in AI‑powered data security and management. The role focuses on modeling, measurement, and analysis of DataProtect’s performance, including new products and features, while driving improvement across product quality, cost, and time‑to‑market.
Responsibilities
- Measure and analyze product performance to identify improvement opportunities.
- Design, implement, execute, analyze, and apply storage‑oriented performance workloads, including tools and automation.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to drive the performance improvement agenda.
- Evaluate design alternatives for enhanced performance and prototype enhancements.
- Create analytical and simulation‑based models to predict storage systems performance.
- Lead non‑routine and unstructured tasks that require creative solutions.
- Apply experience and knowledge to solve complex problems with deep evaluation.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders from engineering to product management.
- Serve as a proactive contributor and subject‑matter expert on team projects.
- Coach and mentor peers to achieve favorable results.
Qualifications
- 10 to 12 years of experience in performance engineering; 10 years minimum.
- Bachelor of Science, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Expertise in performance analysis, modeling techniques, and benchmarking tools.
- Deep knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware architecture, and data structures.
- Strong scripting skills in GoLang and Python.
- Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make accurate work estimates and develop predictable plans.
- Creative and analytical problem‑solving approach.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and decision support.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of storage, file systems, backup/restore.
- Experience with cloud instances, storage, and networking resource limits.
- Understanding of performance trade‑offs in on‑prem and cloud designs.
- Capability to adapt and build automation frameworks (Python‑based) to improve productivity.
Compensation
Pay Range: $203,101.00–$225,668.26. Base salary may be adjusted based on experience, location, and other factors.
