Staff Nurse (RN)- Critical Care Oncology New Grad Nurse Residency Program- The James

Program Overview

The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital Nurse Residency Program offers unique opportunities for newly licensed graduate nurses to transition from student to professional through a full‑time, structured 14‑20 week paid orientation to oncology nursing. The program utilizes Patricia Benner’s novice‑to‑expert model to facilitate socialization into the medical center via hands‑on clinical experience, classroom learning, and ongoing professional development. Each resident is supported by a Nurse Residency Program Educator who coordinates the personalized residency experience, revises the orientation pathway, and evaluates progress.

• Neuro ICU

Resident Responsibilities

• Managing and providing patient care and supportive services.
• Directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team.
• Assessing, prescribing, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating nursing care.
• Prioritizing patient care needs and providing leadership to and development of the patient care team.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program; must hold current licensure or interim permit in the practice of registered nursing from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing; preference for prior experience in a relevant care setting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Background Check
