What You'll Do

• Conduct nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation, and review of records of the patient.
• Ensure that the patient’s progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Perform discharge planning consistent with the patient’s status and inter‑departmental communication.
• Communicate information to the patient based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff members by providing feedback and acting as a preceptor.
• Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Manage patient care assignments reflecting patient needs and personnel skill levels.
• Organize provision of care to meet priority needs of patients and unit.
• Communicate condition of patients requiring additional intervention to leadership.
• Participate in the development of other staff members.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate degree in nursing considered with relevant experience or active matriculation in a BSN Program.

Experience

• 1 year ICU nursing experience or 2 years' Stepdown or Telemetry RN experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RN License in New York State.
• BLS certification from AHA required.
• ACLS certification from AHA required.
