The Staff Nurse in the Medicine/Surgery unit provides professional nursing care to patients under supervision, focusing on diagnosing and treating health problems through various nursing methods and techniques.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and discriminate between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients.
  • Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes on patients/clients.
  • Interpret and report responses of patients/clients to appropriate members of the health team.
  • Participate with interdisciplinary health team members to plan a comprehensive patient care program.
  • Determine and assign components of the nursing regimen to allied nursing personnel.
  • Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to allied nursing personnel in patient care.
  • Participate in defining, implementing, maintaining, and interpreting standards of nursing practice.
  • Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary conferences regarding nursing practice policies.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and learning experiences.

Requirements

  • Experience: Up to 10 years of nursing experience as a Staff Nurse preferred.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Current New York State RN License required.

Additional Compensation

  • Annual education differential based on degree:
    • Bachelors in allied health discipline = $900
    • Masters in allied health discipline = $1,200
    • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) = $1,800
    • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) = $2,000
    • Doctorate in Education, Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing (DNP) = $2,500
  • Annual certification differential ranging from $1,878 up to $4,878 for nationally recognized certifications.
  • Annual nursing experience differential ranging from $987 up to $8,190 for outside nursing experience.
