Staff Nurse, Critical Care Services, Float Pool - Per Diem

The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse position is to be accountable for the care activities, safety and goal achievements of assigned patients through assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patients’ response to the care. These responsibilities also include patient education and discharge planning. The Registered Professional Nurse places emphasis on mobilizing patients, preventing skin breakdown and falls, and implements the appropriate measures to achieve these goals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate, coordinate, and guide team members in planning patient care in a safe environment.
• Achieve patient care goals according to the patient/family developmental stage and cultural expectations.
• Document patient/family goal achievement, satisfaction, and care demonstrated in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission standards, Patient/Family Centered Principles, Department of Health Standards, and University Hospital Policies and Procedures.
• Exemplify the behavioral expectations articulated for this role and the Nursing Department Philosophy.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey (required); BSN preferred.
• Adult Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
• ACLS and BLS required; must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association.
• Ability to employ problem‑solving techniques, critical thinking, and effective interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to lift and move patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to organize care and activities of multiple patients.
• Successful completion of a Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification preferred; must be achieved within the first six (6) months of hire.
• Phlebotomy Certification or IV Certification preferred; must be achieved within the first six (6) months of hire.
• Proficiency in the English language is required.
• FIT Testing required.
• Successful completion of a Critical Care Course or CCRN Certification preferred.
