These products are high-volume and all manufacturing is done in Asia. The successful candidate will manage from concept to production, the design and tooling of plastic and metal enclosures for wireless security camera products intended for use in homes and small to medium offices. Additional tasks may include performing engineering analysis (thermal, stress, and tolerance analysis), design documentation as well as ODM management.Please provide a portfolio that shows process + development + end results. Tangible stories that showcase your talents, contribution, teamwork, and results.Job Responsibilities:Product design, evaluation, testing, performance and documentation of productsWork closely with Product Design team, Operations, Product Marketing, Industrial Design and ODM partners to design new products or customization of existing productsTake leadership role to insure project goals of performance, cost and schedule are metWork closely with 2nd and 3rd tier suppliersManage outside consultants and fabrication vendorsSome international travel is required (approx. 10-15%)Skills and Requirements:Minimum education level of BSME from accredited universityStrong mechanical engineering fundamentals requiredAbility to lead programs and drive issues to closureExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present and explain mech design concepts to a diverse audience of stakeholders.Minimum 8+ years experience in the fields of Product Design and/or mechanical engineering in high-end consumer electronics such as smart devices, IoT, connected home, or a similar consumer-oriented field or 5+ years experience plus a Master's degree.Deep experience in consumer electronics/product design experienceProven history working closely with ambitious Industrial Design, functionality and ecosystemsExtensive 3D CAD experience, preferably with Creo, Solid works and other CAD tools considered.
Experience including complex surfacing.
Experience should be recent, within last 5 years at least.Experience designing camera or camera related productsSuperior expertise in plastic injection mold part designExperience designing outdoor, weatherproof enclosuresUnderstanding of die casting, adhesives, stamping, machining, and rapid prototypesUnderstanding of tolerance analysisExperience with progressive-die sheet metal part designExtensive design experience with high-volume of over 1 million/yr., low-cost productsEffective leadership, organization and project management skillsProven ability and willingness to take ownership of project; ability to get the job done with minimal supervisionExperience in successfully leading projects through to pilot, mass production and beyondProven ability to track and resolve issuesExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalSelf-starter that works well on a teamSensitivity to design aestheticsFluency in Mandarin is a plus!The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between $140,000 – 170,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including location, role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus, equity, and a full range of benefits.
