$80-$92/hour | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Weekly pay every Friday | Overtime opportunities available
Position Overview
We are hiring two Staff Engineers for an engineering office in Hanover, MD. You will use finite element analysis (FEA) and hand calculations to confirm that highly loaded subsea structures are safe and strong. You will work alongside design engineers from the first concept through structural testing.
Do you want your calculations to decide whether a subsea vehicle survives extreme pressure? As a Staff Engineer, you will build load cases, solve large ANSYS models, and check the results by hand. Your analysis shapes the load path of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) frames, pressure vessels, and ship over-boarding equipment, so designers can trust every weld, bolt, and joint. This is a fast-paced, Monday-Friday, in-office role with weekly pay and contract-to-hire potential.
In Hanover, you will analyze ROV frames, pressure vessels, and over-boarding equipment built for extreme deep-sea conditions, proving every design is safe before it ever touches the water.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop load cases and quantify loads for primary and secondary structures
- Perform initial sizing of conceptual structures and static analysis using Bruhn, Roark, and Shigley methods
- Develop, solve, and post-process large FEA models in ANSYS, simplifying complex systems into workable models
- Participate in design reviews with design engineers
- Document all analysis clearly and accurately
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in stress analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program (years of experience considered in lieu of degree)
- Proficiency in ANSYS (strongly preferred) or NASTRAN, with no training on the software provided
- Strong command of FEA and classical hand analysis
- Experience with static, dynamic, nonlinear contact, fatigue and fracture, transient shock, DDAM, bolt, weld, and pressure vessel analysis
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
- Very good written communication skills for technical requirements and reports
- U. xzgxqkn S. citizen able to obtain a security clearance (active clearance preferred, Top Secret/SCI with CI poly is a plus)
Equal opportunity employer committed to workplace diversity and inclusion.
