Staff Engineer I, StructuralPerform basic technical structural engineering support for energy projects under the direction of experienced structural engineers. Project assignments will include engineering and design tasks for large facility foundation and steel systems. Will report to Director, Civil and Structural Engineering & Design.Able to document and layout simple foundation and steel system designs using pre-developed tools with direction from experienced engineers. Review drawings and markup as necessary to represent a functional design. Basic understanding of foundation types/steel shapes and correct application of them.
Basic understanding of control system and industrial networking components, equipment, and applications. General understanding of ACI, ASCI, ASCE, IBC, PIP codes, and ability to apply these correctly and efficiently with guidance from experienced engineers. Able to document and layout simple structural system designs using pre-developed tools with direction from experienced engineers, and then review steel and rebar shop drawings, marking up as necessary to represent a functional design. Able to build a simple structural system model utilizing RISA, MathCAD and/or LPILE from project and equipment drawings, and perform pipe rack, foundation and pipe support analysis under the guidance of experienced engineers. Able to summarize structural study results using Kahuna report templates.
Able to assemble and track bid tabulations for contractor and equipment quotes using Kahuna templates and guidance from experienced engineers. Demonstrate ability to functionally communicate technical and administrative project/task details, including correspondence via reports, emails, and general documentation. Understand and able to operate Navisworks Freedom, allowing for basic integration between engineering and design. Participation in construction activities and communication with field personnel through RFI responses reviewed by experienced engineers. Other duties as assigned.Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Specialty preferred).
Strong work ethic, and willing/able to travel to field project locations as necessary. Proficient communication and organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
