Staff Electrical Engineer - Substation (Northeast Region)Wallingford, Connecticut, United StatesAbout the JobWe're looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Substation team. This role will focus on delivering engineering and consulting services for projects across the U.S. and internationally.
Work will span from small distribution upgrades to large transmission projects. This is an opportunity to shape the resiliency, reliability, and efficiency of the electric grid.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support design of high-voltage (13kV-500kV) substationsDevelop proposals, scopes, conceptual designs, and execution plansPrepare engineering estimates, schedules, and project deliverablesExecute physical substation designs: yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, AC/DC power systems, and material listsPerform protection and control design: panel arrangements, one-lines, schematics, wiring, and relay panelsConduct engineering studies and reports (grounding, load studies, etc.)Develop equipment specifications for procurement and testingCoordinate with civil/structural, transmission line, and other teamsMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidanceEngage with clients and conduct quality reviewsProvide short-term construction field supportContribute to business development and industry involvementQualificationsBachelors in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) + 3 years experience; orBachelors in Electrical/related Engineering Technology (ABET) + FE exam + 3 years experience; orMasters in Electrical Engineering + 2 years experienceConsulting experience preferredStrong grounding in engineering techniques, analysis, and problem-solvingSkilled communicator (written and verbal)Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D/3D rendering, and analysis toolsStrong attention to detail, organization, and collaboration skillsEIT Certification preferred
