Acting as a trusted ambassador for the security community, the full-time remote Staff Developer Advocate will engage with security researchers and developers, define the advocacy program's vision, produce technical content, and drive community growth for GitHub Security Lab. Key responsibilities Build and maintain relationships with security researchers and open source maintainers to understand community needs and advocate for GitHub's security tools Define and lead the technical content strategy, creating high-quality resources such as blog posts, tutorials, and conference talks Collect feedback from the community to inform product improvements and ensure effective communication between stakeholders and GitHub's product teams Required qualifications 10+ years of experience in community engagement, IT, software development, or related fields, or a Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience Experience delivering technical keynotes or sessions at major conferences with 1,000+ attendees 2+ years of experience in application security, secure code practices, or vulnerability research 4+ years of experience working with Git, GitHub, and software development practices Proven contributions to open source security projects or security-focused tools
