Job Brief Overview
Our client is seeking a Staff-level design engineer to lead the development of advanced silicon-based RF and microwave integrated circuits, with a particular focus on switch technologies built on Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) processes. This is a hands-on, technically deep role spanning design, simulation, verification, and production support.
Please note: due to the nature of the technology involved, this role is subject to U.S. export control regulations. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or otherwise qualify as a Protected Individual under U.S. law. This position is fully onsite in the Greater Boston, MA area.
About the Role
- Design cutting-edge silicon microwave monolithic integrated circuits (MMICs), with an emphasis on SOI switch products
- Own the layout process, including design rule checks and layout-versus-schematic verification
- Liaise directly with semiconductor foundries to validate process design kit (PDK) models and manage wafer tapeouts
- Get hands-on in the lab to characterize products and keep projects on schedule
- Contribute to preliminary datasheet development
- Provide technical support to applications engineering, sales, and product line teams as needed
- Support products across the full development and production lifecycle
- Define product specifications and build out test plans
- Prepare and present at design review meetings
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, RF Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in silicon-based RF/microwave design
- Demonstrated track record of taking silicon MMIC products from design through production release
- Familiarity with high-frequency packaging techniques
- Proficiency with industry-standard IC design tools (e.g. Cadence Virtuoso)
- Experience with 3D electromagnetic simulation software (e.g. Momentum, EMX, HFSS)
- Strong communication skills, both technical and cross-functional, with the ability to work across engineering, sales, and product teams
