Job Brief Overview

Our client is seeking a Staff-level design engineer to lead the development of advanced silicon-based RF and microwave integrated circuits, with a particular focus on switch technologies built on Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) processes. This is a hands-on, technically deep role spanning design, simulation, verification, and production support.

Please note: due to the nature of the technology involved, this role is subject to U.S. export control regulations. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or otherwise qualify as a Protected Individual under U.S. law. This position is fully onsite in the Greater Boston, MA area.

About the Role

  • Design cutting-edge silicon microwave monolithic integrated circuits (MMICs), with an emphasis on SOI switch products
  • Own the layout process, including design rule checks and layout-versus-schematic verification
  • Liaise directly with semiconductor foundries to validate process design kit (PDK) models and manage wafer tapeouts
  • Get hands-on in the lab to characterize products and keep projects on schedule
  • Contribute to preliminary datasheet development
  • Provide technical support to applications engineering, sales, and product line teams as needed
  • Support products across the full development and production lifecycle
  • Define product specifications and build out test plans
  • Prepare and present at design review meetings

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, RF Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in silicon-based RF/microwave design
  • Demonstrated track record of taking silicon MMIC products from design through production release
  • Familiarity with high-frequency packaging techniques
  • Proficiency with industry-standard IC design tools (e.g. Cadence Virtuoso)
  • Experience with 3D electromagnetic simulation software (e.g. Momentum, EMX, HFSS)
  • Strong communication skills, both technical and cross-functional, with the ability to work across engineering, sales, and product teams

Benefits and Working Conditions

  • Fully onsite role based in the Greater Boston, MA area
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous paid time off and holiday pay
  • Long-term disability and life/AD&D insurance
